I've not been blogging since last year! lololol funny but true this is my first blogpost of the year. Anyway Happy New Year to everyone and i bet most of you guys had a blast celebrating it! As for me, I stayed at home and study. Daddy don't really like bringing us for countdown outside cuz he doesn't like to be stuck in the jam and to be around with sooo many people, so every year we just stayed at home and listen to the fireworks sound from the inside.. WTF I KNOW! HAHAHAHA!! one thing im glad is that i didn't pass my new year's day ALONE IN UNI. #foreveralone in uni. damnit.

As promised in my previous post here's what i bought from Sephora! nothing big but i like each and every one so much that i wanted to share this with you guys!

Facial treatment.

Sorry peeps.. I know i havent been updating much lately and pardon me about my emo post(s). Having a hard time but im starting to get the hang of it so yeah im fine now, i guess? Well, its not something expensive.. Its a voucher from Milkadeal worth RM402 of pampering session and you can get it for only RM27. But i get it for free anyway *teehee :p
Made my appointment few days before and off we go! Asked hubby drop me there since he's on his way to college for his 11.30am class. We reached there at 10.30am cuz we dont really know the place and yeah we had a hard time finding it! Its situated near Fresh and Each a Cup. You have to look above too cuz its on the first floor and at the end corner.

Hubby left around 11am and while waiting for my time(11.30am) to come, i went to grab some drinks at Fresh and pretend that im busy with my super high-tech-smartphone phone *playing with lame handphone games* :/

First, the therapist showed me my skin condition with a tool which i dont know what is it.. AND to my horror, i found out that my face looks freaking horrible! black heads, dark spots, dark circles are everywhere though its not that visible from outside.. Oh my, you girls out there better get ur skin checked asap! You might not know whats underneath those smooth skin :S
I've got a pretty bad skin condition as some of my acnes are already congested which cant be healed by just applying cream or anything. Lucky thing the package includes extraction of those nasty seed oils and black heads! ;)

Procedure:

1. Eyebrow trimming
2. Cleansing
3. Scrub
4. Extraction
5. Eliminate oil seeds and milia around the face, eyes & neck
6. Ultrasound ampoule treatment
7. Massage: Face, eyes, neck, shoulder, head & back
8. Cream mask & cold mask
9. Apply toner, mosturiser & sunblock

There goes the procedure that i went through. It took me more than 2 hours to complete it! Its not as relaxing as you think though.. The extraction part is definitely the worst. Other than that everything was fine :)

Detoxification Foot Bath.
i was expecting for some kinda tea bath or more but its just some plain warm water bath..

I didnt use my RM60 & RM120 product and service discount voucher cuz i dont think i need anything at the mean time. Besides, financial is kinda tight for me right now :( So many other things to buy! Waited for hubby down stairs and he insisted me on getting myself another drink from Fresh again.. And so i did. As i was ordering my drink, the same girl attended me earlier served me again this time. Her expression kinda changed when i ordered my drink but it didnt bother me at all.. Hubby came after awhile and i asked him how do i look and he said i look OKAY so i didnt bother about it again! As i get into the car i saw myself on the rear mirror and got a shock in my life.

My face was as red as a tomato or even worse than a tomato cuz tomatoes have smooth skin but i dont! Then i started wondering.. No wonder the girl in the counter got shocked after looking at my face! fml -___________________- i felt so embarrassed after knowing that soo many people had seen my rotten tomato face! HAHA and there's a little indian boy lingering around the shops came asking from me money : 'AUNTY, SATU RINGGIT ADA???' i shook my head and thought- now what? i look like an aunty?? wtf -___________________________-

When i got home, my mum got shocked too. HAHAHA she said its like i've just got into a fight and got beaten. LOL! I blamed hubby for saying that my face looks OKAY and act as if there's nothing wrong with it but it wasnt even near to OKAY. He then answered 'BUT it really looks okay to me and i dont mind how you look at all'. Awww... isnt he the sweetest thing ever? :p


One more thing, if you guys wanna have a facial treatment from there you can always call 012-5673689 and ask for Karen(the shop owner). She might not sound friendly but she is friendly dont worry :) i got paranoid when i first call her and was sooo afraid to go at first! LOL

Clinique Star Tour 2011

Well oh well.. it was my first time i got myself a real makeover minus the one i had few years back where i went to some studio for my own portrait shots. Last Saturday, the girls (HuiLing, Tasha and Melissa) and i went over to Queensbay just to try our luck on that particular event! Haiya maybe we stand a chance to win leh.. who knows right? xD

Thanks to HuiLing for asking me to join her and Tasha! if not i wouldnt have the chance to join it already *i wouldnt want hubby to drive all the way there to placate me just like that :/ * Its better when we got to hang out with our girlfriends and together we get to enjoy this exciting event right? :D

Reached there around 1pm and hurry ourselves to the Clinique mobile truck located outside of the mall.. Lucky thing is that there's not much people there, we got to register ourselves just in time and dont have to wait too long for our turns to come!

Firstly, those friendly Clinique assistance helped to apply toner, exfoliat0r and moisturizers on my face. After that, our make up is done by some Clinique make up experts and hair by Miko Galere. Everyone looked gorgeous after the make over especially Tasha! Photoshoot by some experts but im disappointed with my shots.. I got to admit im not photogenic! :(

The other day when i went grocery shopping with mummy and i came across of this Vitagen Collagen in the hypermarket! I'd always wanted to try the collagen drink from Kinohimitsu, NH Plus, etc etc but i dont have the courage to do so.. Thanaka

Hola! Today im going to share something informative with you guys! Anyone of you know what is Thanaka? Most of you might have known about it already by the product Bio-Essence who launched a range of Thanaka White something something series right? Well, am gonna share with you guys about the benefits about it!

First, let me tell you what thanaka is all about! Basically, thanaka is a ground bark of a tree. It is famous in Myanmar and used among the locals (be it young or old) there.. Its like a soothing masks that they wore all day long. What is it for? Thanaka is widely use as a sunscreen.. As in Myanmar, the country is all about agriculture and most of the locals will have to go down to the field to work under the scorching hot sun! In order to avoid from getting sunburn, they apply thanaka on their skin(face/hands/legs/etc).

we bought 2 back and each cost around 3-5USD without the stone.

Now i'll tell you guys how it works..

this is my set of thanaka and the "kyauk pyin"(the circular stone thingy)


first, pour a little amount of distilled water on the stone.. then take the thanaka and 'grind' it in a circular motion to make a cream paste..

only the outer layer of the bark is usable.. the inner bark itself cannot be used. *i think

thats how the 'cream paste' looks like... apply it onto your skin and wait for it to dry!

when it is dry, it will look like this.

the locals in Myanmar usually apply this the whole day but i think its impractical for us to do that in Malaysia dont you think so? haha.. everyone will definitely give u THE look if u go around with thanaka on your face! So, i just apply thick layers of thanaka whenever im home! very soothing since the weather is soo freaking hot these days.. -.-''

Oh ya, the benefits of thanaka..
-it has a whitening effect (which explains why Bio-Essence is using that as their product range)
-sun protection/sunblock
-removing acne
-eases insects bites/minor burns
-for smoother/moisturized skin
-it also has the anti-fungal effect (due to the cooling nature)

Myths of Sun Safety :

While some people wear hats and carry large umbrellas outside during the day to protect themselves from being burnt by the scorching sun, there are those who think the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation won’t do much damage.

Let us crack a few common myths on sun safety.

1. Having a healthy tan protects us from the sun.

A golden tan on our skin is often interpreted as a healthy, but in truth, there is no such thing as a “healthy tan.”

This “healthy tan” occurs when melanin (a pigment in our skin) reacts to protect us from UVB rays from the sun. Unfortunately, it would only provide limited protection equivalent to a sun protection factor (SPF) of about 4. That is hardly enough when dermatologists recommend that we use lotions and sunscreens with at least SPF 15 for our daily protection.

2. Not getting sunburnt on a cloudy day

Just because we don’t see the sun, does not mean its solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation can’t get to us. That’s because 80% of UV rays can penetrate through smog, mist, clouds and even fog.

We always need to make sure our skin gets the all-around protection it needs, even when it looks like a cloudy day.

3. I only need protection when I'm outdoors

The sun is the sun, no matter where you are, no matter the weather. While jogging, gardening or even when driving, the sun still hits us with its UV rays. This is called incidental sun exposure. Accumulation of these incidental exposures can cause significant skin damage. So the next time you step out, it’s best to apply some sun protection.

4. SPF 15 + SPF 30 equals SPF 45?

SPF is not simply about adding up numbers. Items of different SPF values contain different chemical combinations. As such, applying different layers of SPFs at the same time could actually impair the effectiveness of the products, as one product could contaminate the other.

If you need to stay under the sun for a while, a safer bet would be to use the minimum sun protection of SPF 15, as recommended by dermatologists. Considering that the average person’s skin would redden between 10 to 20 minutes, SPF15 will give you protection of up to 5 hours.
